Unity is very different from game maker or 3ds max. Unity has been pretty difficult for me. The scripting doesn't fully make sense to me, but I'm getting the hang of it. I'm not done with the Roll-a-Ball tutorial and the only hard part for me so far is the scripting. I tend to miss lots of small details when I am scripting. In scripting, if you miss one little thing, then it will not work. It is a lot different than game maker and the scripting is harder on unity. To get better at Unity I need to work on scripting and try to understand it more,so I am able to do it on my own.

Particles and effects in 3ds max are super cool because you can do so much with them. There are non-event-driven particles systems and event-driven particle systems. These modifiers are useful because you can make snow, rain, or smoke to make things more realistic. You can change it so that you can have any object or shape fall from the sky or go upwards. You can change the size and how fast it flows. You can decide how much falls and what time it falls down. You can customize it to lots of different things. They are super simple to use, but can be tricky at times. I know how to make it seem like there is smoke, but it isn't that realistic yet, but I'm still learning.
I'm super excited about learning how to work with unity. Next year I want to make a video game and I will need to know how to work with unity. I have never worked with Unity, but I will keep you up to date on how I'm doing. I'm excited, but a little nervous that it will be hard. I enjoyed working with game maker and I did pretty well using that. I'm excited to see what making a 3D game will be like.
We have learned a couple new things on 3ds max. We learned about dynamic simulations, particles and effects, cloth, hair, fur, and mental ray. These are useful for game design because it can make everything look better and more realistic. Now that I know how to use the cloth modifier, I can use it for realistic clothes or a cloth for a table. Also now that I know about particles and effects I can make it look like it is raining or snowing. The Mental Ray is an important tool in 3ds max because it makes more realistic lighting, than the default lighting. Dynamic simulations are super cool because you can do like a ripple effect. All these modifiers are useful in making things more realistic than before.
so far this year we have learned a lot of important tools that are needed in the Game Design industry. I loved the group project we did where we had to make a board game. It was useful because it taught us on how it would be in the real world and how you have to work as a team. I learned more about time managment and how you have to make sure everyone is doing what they have to do because to make a board game game you have to have all the pieces to finish the board game. I also liked when we worked on how to do different careers in Game design and it helped me figure out what thing I wanted to do in game design. In game design there are hundred of different jobs that each person does to help finish a game and it is really hard to decide what you want to do. I feel like looking at the different careers really helped with that. Also it was good that we went back into copyright issues because these are very important in life and game design. You can get in a huge amount of trouble if you don't follow these rules. I also think it was great to learn about audition and premiere because these tools are used in game design and in other fields. You can use Audition to edit a sound that is in your game or maybe the soundtrack. You could use premiere to make a commercial for your video game. Also I am glad that we are learning more about 3ds max and I have now realized that you can do thousands of things on 3ds max. 3ds max is also used in game design a lot, so it's a good idea to learn more about it.
