Particles and effects in 3ds max are super cool because you can do so much with them. There are non-event-driven particles systems and event-driven particle systems. These modifiers are useful because you can make snow, rain, or smoke to make things more realistic. You can change it so that you can have any object or shape fall from the sky or go upwards. You can change the size and how fast it flows. You can decide how much falls and what time it falls down. You can customize it to lots of different things. They are super simple to use, but can be tricky at times. I know how to make it seem like there is smoke, but it isn't that realistic yet, but I'm still learning.

We have learned a couple new things on 3ds max. We learned about dynamic simulations, particles and effects, cloth, hair, fur, and mental ray. These are useful for game design because it can make everything look better and more realistic. Now that I know how to use the cloth modifier, I can use it for realistic clothes or a cloth for a table. Also now that I know about particles and effects I can make it look like it is raining or snowing. The Mental Ray is an important tool in 3ds max because it makes more realistic lighting, than the default lighting. Dynamic simulations are super cool because you can do like a ripple effect. All these modifiers are useful in making things more realistic than before.
Returning to 3Ds max was kind of hard for me. I forgot how to do some things, but I also remember how to do some things. When I first got back on 3ds max I remembered all the very basics, but immediately I realized that I forgot how to do edit poly or I forgot where something was located. I remembered how to do the simple stuff like placing down primitives and changing the scale or moving it around. I forgot how to do a lot of the modifiers, but after watching a few video I got the hang of it. I think that I'm a little worried to start moving on in the 3D direction, but I think it will be fine after I remember everything I forgot. I'm looking forward to learning more about 3ds Max.
