I tried making caustics in 3ds max, which is the reflection of light off of glass. Again, I tried, but did not succeed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I followed everything in the tutorial. Maybe I am using an old tutorial and I need to find a newer one. It sort of worked when I did it last night with a sphere. Today I tried a new tutorial and I'm not sure if it is working or not.

Some main things I've learned are that it is never a good idea to start something new when you haven't fully finished something else. This is because then other errors could start to pop up randomly and you won't even know why. Also that making video games isn't as easy as it might seem. I never knew that making a game would take so much coding and effort. Making a game takes lots of different skills to complete. You need someone who is good at making models and someone who is good at coding. Making games takes a lot of different elements and can't be done in a short amount of time. Also it is hard to find tutorials that do exactly what you want. For example you might want a code that makes your player jump a certain distance when a certain thing touches you. The only way you can get a script for this, is to find a tutorial similar to this and work from that.
When I was watching a tutorial on Youtube I learned a quick and easy way to make realistic looking metal on 3ds Max. First thing you do is go to the material editor and then click diffuse and just change the color to black. Then you go to Specular level and put it at about 130. Then also go to the glossiness and put that at about 10. his will then give you a quick and easy metal material. This tip will be super useful for the future because lots of things I model involve metal in them.
When I was learning how to make a light saber in 3ds max I figured out how to make things glow. What you do is you select your object and go to rendering and then environment after making a blank material. Go to the effects tab and then add the lens effect. Then go down to lens effects and pick glow. Then from there you can just mess around with the setting to get the type of glow you want and you can pick any color you want. This tutorial could be useful for lamps and lava too.
When I was watching a tutorial on Youtube I found out how to make a cool pattern for coaches or chairs. The first thing you do is just get a basic box shape and then make sure it has a good amount of segments. Then make it an edit poly and then highlight them so that you make a checkerboard. Then right click and hit connect. Then go to extrude and just make a small hole for all of them. Then go to extrude and have all the other edges selected and extrude by just .5. Then next you want to go to modifiers and go to TurboSmooth. This will then make it look like a nice cushion.
When I was watching a tutorial on Youtube this person recommended a website called www.cgtextures.com. They have tons of free textures that are very high quality. I'm always struggling to find texture, but now it's a whole lot easier. They have almost every texture you could possibly want. I made a rock using one of the textures they had and it turned out so good and that is why I want to recommend this website. Also usually when looking for good textures it can take some time to search and look for them, but on this website it is all great textures and they are all put into categories. I'm so glad I found this website because it will make my 3D models look better and will be faster.
I had a bus stop sign that was suppose to have text on it, but when I put it into Unity it didn't show up. To fix this I went to Photoshop and typed in my text that I wanted and saved it as a JPEG. Then, I went back into Unity and got that image and turned it into a sprite. I then just added this sprite into my scene and just resized it to fit my bus stop sign. This tip is very useful for any posters/signs you might want to put in your game. It's also very simple and easy to do. I'm still not sure why the text never showed up in my scene in the first place because when I rendered it in 3Ds Max it showed up.
This cool software is called Mixamo and it makes it so easy to have a rigged model. You can pick from various 3D models or your own, but they have to be people. This makes life so much easier. It's also free, which is awesome and has hundreds of animations to pick from. Once I figure out how to work with it, it will definitely be a game changer. Instead of spending 3 weeks on an animation, I can spend about 5 minutes and have a fully rigged 3D model.
The game I'm going to be reviewing is Fortnite Battle Royal. First off, this game is completely free to download on your computer or PS4/XBOX, which makes it available to a wide range of people. This game is a 100-player PvP mode where you try and survive as long as you can. You use building skills and you can collect wood and stone to build forts to try and survive. Around the game there are different guns and things you can collect. Some weapons are rarer than others and also you can collect more materials and health kits. Over time the borders begin to shrink in and the game becomes harder and harder. This game reminds me of the Hunger Games a little because there is only one winner and I remember that they all started with nothing and they had to find care packages to survive, like this game. Overall I think this game is very nice for being free and has pretty good graphics.
When building my city I wanted to make it look like something actually lied here. I wanted there to be cars moving around on their own. So, I went ahead and did some searching on youtube for a tutorial that could help me out. I found out you can do this by downloading the utility package and then use a way point circuit system to make your car follow those certain check points. All you need to do is find the waypointcircuit script and make cubes as the children of this script. I think this will be super useful for the future because now I can make things look realer.
