When building my city I wanted to make it look like something actually lied here. I wanted there to be cars moving around on their own. So, I went ahead and did some searching on youtube for a tutorial that could help me out. I found out you can do this by downloading the utility package and then use a way point circuit system to make your car follow those certain check points. All you need to do is find the waypointcircuit script and make cubes as the children of this script. I think this will be super useful for the future because now I can make things look realer.

I decided I wanted to learn how to make plants in 3ds max, so I went on youtube and saw this tutorial that makes it super easy to do. The first thing you do is create a simple plan and then find a picture of leaf and make it a texture. Then you add the texture to the plan. After that you go to the opacity of the leaf texture and put a black and white photo version of the leaf. Make sure this leaf is white in the inside and black on the border. Then this will only have the leaf remaining. After this you add a few segments to the leaf and then add a bend modifier to it to make it look more realistic.
This week I have been working on a system of generating fruit on bushes. I came up with the idea because I realized that if my player gets injured there should be a way for them to regenerate food. I have three types of fruit that spawn on bushes. Each fruit will spawn at different rates. These bushes will also be very rare because if I have too many fruit bushes the game will be too easy. Also the only issue right now is when I run into the fruit to pick it up, it does nothing. It just stays a solid and doesn't have any response when I run into. So, at the moment I am trying to figure out a way to fix this. I also went into the comments of the you tube video I used to help me and someone had the same exact issue as me. This means that we both made the same exact mistake and there must be a way to fix it. I also used a GUI image to make the inventory box, which displays the amount of fruit you have picked up and a small text underneath will show the number of fruit. I used some icons that I found on the internet to have an icon pop up in the inventory.
Agenda for next week
This week I was able to fix the dialogue, but at the moment I am trying to make it so that when you go up to an object the dialogue will appear and then disappear when you are done reading it. Some issues I had with the dialogue were that the dialogue text was showing up underneath where it was suppose to. I decided to look at the animations and was able to figure out how to fix that. Then when I finished making the dialogue, I realized that I needed the mouse to be visible, so you could click the start and continue button. I had to into the First Person Controller script and Mouse Look script, so I could m_CursorIsLocked = to false and Cursor.visible = true. Then after this I realized that my alien enemy wasn't chasing my player anymore, so I looked around and realized that in my AI Basic Script I didn't have the player set, so then I set it to the FpsController. Agenda for next week
I'm still working on the dialogue because I got stuck on this one part of the animation. It was suppose to move the dialogue box in when you clicked start and then out when you are done reading the dialogue, but instead did nothing. After playing around with the setting and animation, I was able to make it so that when you first click the start button the dialogue pops up, but then the continue button will not work. Also after messing around with the setting, I also ended up messing up other things. If you look at the pictures below, then you can see that my inventory box is messed up and I have no idea how that happened. At the moment I'm just trying to fix the dialogue and then I will go back and fix what I messed up.
